Indonesian edtech firm that helps students attend college secures funding

GoKampus, an Indonesia-based edtech startup, announced it has raised an undisclosed amount of pre-series A funding co-led by Sovereign’s Capital and Salt Ventures. Azure Ventures and some angel investors also participated in the round.

Founded by Nathanael Santoso and Jeganathan Sethu in 2018, GoKampus helps students apply to hundreds of college programs just by uploading their high school transcripts. After getting accepted into one, they can then attend courses virtually, look and apply for scholarships and education loans, and find internships and jobs via the startup’s app.

The startup plans to use the fresh funds to strengthen its tech products, double its team size, and ramp up its student and university partnership acquisition efforts.

The company has more than 250,000 active students on its platform currently, with 400 university partners in Australia, Singapore, the UK, the US, and Indonesia.

Early this year, GoKampus launched Cloud University, an online university that offers on-demand courses that help students prepare for a real work environment. Participants can also get an equivalent of a bachelor’s degree after completing a course.
