“The companies are initially focused on introducing an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles for the last-mile delivery industry,” said Gogoro in a statement received by Tech in Asia.

The firm, which had gone public in April, will launch its flagship services in Manila, which include a two-wheel battery swapping pilot and its two-wheel electric vehicle Smartscooters.

It plans to launch the pilot program in the first quarter of 2023.

Before venturing into the Philippines, Gogoro had already established a presence in several markets across Asia such as China, Indonesia, Israel, and India.

The company said its global battery-swapping network has more than 520,000 riders and 11,000 stations. It also provides more than 370,000 battery swaps daily.
