After the acquisition, Be Media’s founder, Jordan Fogarty, will keep a minority stake in the company and continue to serve as its CEO. Fogarty was also one of the early investors in Animoca Brands.
Founded in 2013, Be Media’s main business lies in digital advertising strategy on search engines and social media platforms. It counts prominent companies such as Audi, Harley Davidson, and Finbar as its clients. It’s also a partner of Facebook, Shopify, and Klaviyo.
As part of the deal, the marketing agency will support Animoca Brands’ push to convert digital property rights into blockchain and NFTs by helping the blockchain firm forge partnerships with Australian companies. In a statement, Be Media said that it has started the hiring process for blockchain development and project management talent.
“The acquisition of Be Media will allow Animoca Brands to extend its core capabilities to support the Australian market and beyond,” Animoca Brands co-founder Yat Siu said.
