Nvidia graphic cards can actually natively record gameplay

This might be no surprise to some of the more tech-savvy gamers out there, but Nvidia’s newer graphic cards can record gameplay footage natively. Seeing how a lot of us are the plug-and-play type even if we did get our desktops custom-built, we feel like this is news worth sharing.

If you have a Nvidia GT650 and up GPU, you’ll be able to download a program called the GeForce Experience. This is a driver optimizer that offers cloud storage for your game settings. With the GeForce Experience, you’ll be able to transfer your painstakingly configured settings for each game from computer to computer just by downloading the program. But better than that is the ShadowPlay option.

ShadowPlay is a native gameplay recorder that allows you to record an unlimited amount of footage via the manual mode, or the most recent twenty minutes of your game via the Shadow mode.

Because the recording is done natively within the GPU, it’s much less taxing on your computer. The footage also saves in the H.264 format, which allows immediate upload to YouTube, and takes up much less file space to boot (we’re looking at you, FRAPS).
