A Note to Singapore Businesses Looking to Expand to New York City

Companies looking to expand to New York City take note. We received a note from IDA on an upcoming event held from 9 to 13 May 2011.

Without a doubt, New York City is one of the most attractive places for global entrepreneurial ventures with easy access to talented workforce, huge market, and robust business networks. It also offers tremendous benefits to international businesses with vast resources in venture capital, advertising, media, and professional services.

Overview: World to NYC is designed to help global entrepreneurs leverage New York City’s resources and economic opportunities. The program seeks to promote trade and investment between New York City and the global economy, focusing on the growing international entrepreneurial sector exploring expansion opportunities in North America. For the first time, NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) will be working with Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore) to organise a World to NYC mission trip for Singapore based companies.

Who should attend?: CEOs and senior executives of digital media and ICT companies looking to do business or establish a presence in New York City. The delegation, led by IE Singapore’s Asst CEO, Mr Yew Sung Pei, will visit New York City from May 9-13, 2011.

What will happen?: Over five days in New York City, there will be a series of events specifically designed to create new business opportunities through direct introduction to New York City’s business leaders from the media and technology industries, VCs, NYC based startups and R&D labs. Program events include business receptions, workshops, networking and social events. In addition, IDA & IE Singapore will curate a program of support events ensuring maximum exposure and business benefit for all parties. Targeted business-matching meetings will be arranged based on the needs of each delegate.

Participants can also expect to understand what it takes to do business in the US, raise funds and pitch to US investors. See below for the program schedule (click to enlarge).

Participation Fee: $400 per company (up to 2 participants per company)
