Leveraging the popularity of the wildly popular game Angry Birds, Nokia Indonesia is holding a competition titled “The Angry Birds Challenge.” The competition will be played out on Nokia N8 handsets, and the top scorer every week will win a place in the grand final.
This event will take place at 15 Nokia stores spread across most major Indonesian cities like Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Medan. The final will be held in Jakarta on June 2011.
Anyone can follow this free competition by signing up on Nokia Indonesia’s Facebook page or by directly visiting one of Nokia ‘s 15 stores. The list of the store locations is available on Facebook. The competition will be held on Saturdays and Sundays from 3 to 6pm, and a finalist will be selected each week.
The competition offers prizes like a motorcycle, a trip to Bali, shopping vouchers, and as you might expect, Nokia phones and accessories.
This should serve as a decent sales promotion for Nokia, and spread some love for Angry Birds in Indonesia.
This is not the first time that the Finnish handset maker has harnessed the power of Angry Birds recently. Just last month Nokia came to an exclusive agreement with the game’s developer Rovio (also from Finland), to offer an exclusive NFC-enabled version of Angry Birds.
Earlier today we also wrote about Nokia’s efforts to bring more services to feature phones in the country, as it upgraded Nokia Life Tools with health information.
