Singapore-based logistics startup Ninja Van announced it has partnered with Ministop, a Philippines-based convenience store chain, in a bid to expand its retail footprint in newer markets.

Under the partnership, customers can visit any partner Ministop branch to send items anywhere in the Philippines. The deal will allow Ninja Van Philippines to offer its shipping services in over 50 Ministop branches in Metro Manila, the country’s national capital region.

Robinsons Retail Holdings had partnered with Japan’s Ministop and Mitsubishi Corp in 2000 to open the convenience store chain in the Philippines. It now has about 500 stores across Metro Manila, South Luzon, and Visayas, with branches located in the provinces of Cebu, Bacolod, Dumaguete, Roxas, and Boracay.

“Our partnership with Ministop plays a critical role in Ninja Van Philippines’ retail strategy,” said Martin Cu, country head of Ninja Van Philippines. “We’ve been seeing a significant increase in the demand for shipping services.”

As part of the deal, partner Ministop branches will offer three types of pouches, which customers can use to pack their items. The Ninja Pack, which is available in Metro Manila and provincial regions, will be priced at 80 pesos (US$1.65) and 150 pesos (US$3), respectively, while the Ministop Pack, priced at 65 pesos (US$1.33), will allow customers to send items between partner Ministop branches.

Ninja Van said it will expand the partnership to more Ministop branches in the coming months. It also recently opened its flagship retail store in Angeles City, Pampanga, where it offers a full suite of Ninja Van Philippines’ express shipping services.
