Zomato appoints former executive to head dining out vertical

Zomato has appointed its former executive Shalin Bhatt as the head of its dining-out vertical, replacing Sankalp Kathuria, according to sources.

Bhatt, who rejoined Zomato in July 2024, is the third leader of this segment within two years.

This change supports Zomato’s push to shift goal to shift dining-out users to its new District app, which consolidates dining-related services.

Zomato has focused on its going-out vertical, which includes dining, live events, and ticketing, especially after acquiring Paytm’s events and ticketing business for 2,048 crore rupees (US$236.54 million) in August 2024.

The company reported a threefold year-on-year increase in revenue from its going-out division in Q3 2025 and over 6.5 million downloads of the District app.
