Zomato invests $57.7m in Blinkit amid quick commerce race

Zomato has invested around 500 crore rupees (around US$57.7 million) in Blinkit, its quick commerce subsidiary.

Regulatory filings indicate that Blinkit issued 2,537 equity shares at 19.7 lakh rupees (around US$22,754) each to facilitate this capital injection.

This funding follows Zomato’s recent fundraising of 8,500 crore rupees (around US$980.9 million) through its first qualified institutional placement (QIP) announced two months ago.

The company allocated 2,137 crore rupees (around US$246.6 million) from the QIP to develop Blinkit’s dark stores and Hyperpure’s warehouses.

Zomato has shown increasing support for Blinkit, with a previous investment of 300 crore rupees (around US$34.6 million) made in June 2024.

This brings the total investment to 2,300 crore rupees (around US$265.4 million) since Zomato acquired Blinkit in August 2022.
