Vietnam allows Starlink with new foreign ownership rules

Vietnam is set to approve regulations allowing full foreign ownership of satellite internet providers, including Elon Musk’s Starlink.

The pilot scheme, running until 2030, permits low-orbit satellite providers to manage local operations but requires approval from Vietnam’s prime minister for individual projects.

The decision follows negotiations between SpaceX and the Vietnamese government, which previously banned foreign ownership in the sector.

SpaceX has expressed interest in investing US$1.5 billion in Vietnam and expanding its supplier network.
