SpaceX aims to invest US$1.5 billion in Vietnam, as its government says this investment may help resolve delays in launching Starlink satellite services in the Southeast Asian nation.

Discussions about Starlink’s satellite internet services in Vietnam stalled at the end of 2023 but have recently resumed.

Vietnamese President To Lam has indicated the government is considering SpaceX’s investment proposal and has urged the company to expedite preparations.

Vietnam, with a population of around 100 million, has a mountainous terrain and an aging infrastructure, which impacts the reliability of its undersea fiber optic cables.
