US science envoy warns of focus on AI laws
Dr. Rumman Chowdhury, the first United States science envoy for AI, expressed concerns Thursday about the global emphasis on creating AI laws and models without sufficient focus on security and safety testing.
Chowdhury highlighted the importance of proper testing for the safe deployment of AI technologies.
Chowdhury said while establishing AI regulations is prioritized, enforcing these laws remains a problem for governments and corporations.
She also said the need for enforceable AI regulations is similar to challenges in industries like banking and healthcare.
