UK regulator approves chip design software firm’s $35b deal
The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has approved Synopsys’ US$35 billion acquisition of Ansys after the companies addressed initial concerns.
The CMA previously warned the deal could hinder innovation and raise prices but chose not to conduct an in-depth investigation after accepting the proposed remedies.
Synopsys, a provider of chip design tools, announced its cash-and-stock deal to acquire Ansys in January.
Ansys develops software used across industries, helping design products from airplanes to tennis rackets.
