Uber launches 0% commission model for India’s auto drivers
Uber has introduced a 0% commission model for auto drivers in India, effective Feb. 18.
The company will act solely as a technology platform connecting riders with independent drivers, without managing execution or quality of rides.
Fares will be suggested by the app but finalized through direct negotiation between the driver and the rider.
Uber also said it will not be liable for ride cancellations or for drivers refusing service.
This shift follows Uber’s April 2024 trial in six cities and comes a year after rival Rapido introduced a similar subscription-based model.
