Trump team mulls tax credit to ease tariff impact on exporters
The Trump administration is considering a tax credit for exporters to alleviate economic pressures caused by retaliatory tariffs.
This credit aims to assist United States manufacturers by providing a year-end rebate to offset the effects of foreign tariffs, according to sources.
The proposal would need congressional approval and may extend to service exporters. However, it has created divisions within the administration’s economic team.
President Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent have not been formally briefed on the idea.
