Tencent's Weixin app launches DeepSeek search testing

Tencent’s Weixin, China’s largest messaging app, has begun beta testing the DeepSeek AI model to enhance search functionalities.

This development is notable as it indicates Tencent’s collaboration with an external AI platform amid increasing competition in advancing AI technologies.

A Tencent spokesperson confirmed that Weixin will retain its proprietary Hunyuan-Large language model for improving AI search capabilities.

The DeepSeek integration is exclusive to Weixin and does not extend to its international counterpart, WeChat.
