Tencent wins in US copyright infringement

Tencent won an US$85 million copyright infringement case against Taiwan-based Unblock Tech and its distributors, ruled by the United States district court for the western district of Texas on Feb. 7.

The lawsuit involved Tencent subsidiaries, including Tencent Penguin Film, Tencent Computer System, and Tencent Technology, accusing Unblock Tech of copying, distributing, and importing over 1,500 Tencent-owned shows.

Tencent has previously pursued copyright lawsuits, including against ByteDance over unauthorized use of its content.
