Tencent reshuffle AI apps as competition heats up
Tencent Holdings has reorganized several AI applications, transferring them to its Cloud & Smart Industries Group (CSIG) due to rising competition.
The affected apps include QQ Browser, the Sogou Pinyin keyboard, and learning assistant Ima, which were previously under the Platform & Content Group.
The AI chatbot Yuanbao was also moved from the Technology Engineering Group to CSIG.
A Tencent representative confirmed the restructuring on Feb. 21, emphasizing the company’s focus on integrating AI into practical applications and enhancing monetization.
Zhang Yi, chief analyst at iiMedia, noted that the move reflects Tencent’s strategy to refine product experience and leverage user feedback amid competition from Alibaba, Baidu, and startups.
