Taiwan stocks rise 1.52% as TSMC surges
Shares in Taiwan experienced a rebound on Feb.17, primarily due to strong performance from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).
The Taiex index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) rose by 352.72 points, or 1.52%, to close at 23,505.33, with a turnover of NT$363.42 billion (US$11.11 billion).
TSMC, the most influential stock on the exchange, increased by 2.30% to NT$1,085.00 (US$0.03054) contributing nearly 200 points to the index’s rise.
This performance helped elevate the electronics index by 1.86% and the semiconductor sub-index by 2.25%.
