South Korea to investigate DeepSeek data practices

The Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) of South Korea will investigate DeepSeek, a Chinese AI model, regarding its user data handling.

An agency representative announced this decision on Jan. 31.

The PIPC plans to send a written request for information to DeepSeek soon.

This inquiry follows concerns about personal data management and aligns with similar investigations into DeepSeek’s practices by authorities in France, Italy, and Ireland.
