DeepSeek faces global data security restrictions

An increasing number of companies and government agencies globally are restricting access to tools developed by the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek due to concerns over data leaks and privacy vulnerabilities.

These worries stem from DeepSeek’s data storage practices and compliance with Chinese government regulations, according to cybersecurity firms Armis and Netskope.

Concerns revolve around DeepSeek’s privacy policy, which indicates the collection of extensive user data—including keystrokes, text, and audio inputs—and the storage of this information on servers in China.

The policy also specifies that any disputes would be subject to Chinese law.
