Sony forecasts $8.7b profit driven by gaming
Sony raised its full-year profit forecast by 2% to 1.34 trillion yen (US$8.7 billion), citing strong gaming performance.
Once known for consumer electronics, Sony now spans games, movies, music, and image sensors.
Third-quarter operating profit rose 1% to 469.3 billion yen (US$3 billion), surpassing analyst estimates of 404 billion yen (US$2.6 billion), driven by growth in games and music.
Sony’s games unit profit jumped 37%, with PlayStation 5 sales rising to 9.5 million units, while music profits grew from higher streaming revenue.
