Singapore authorities have charged three people with fraud following raids conducted on Feb. 26, which were linked to the alleged illegal movement of Nvidia chips from Singapore to China.

The chips were suspected of being used by the AI firm DeepSeek, bypassing United States export controls.

The operation – led by the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Customs – targeted 22 locations and resulted in nine arrests, with multiple documentary and electronic records seized.

Two Singaporeans – Aaron Woon Guo Jie, 41, and Alan Wei Zhaolun, 49 – face charges of criminal conspiracy.

They are accused of falsely claiming in 2024 that certain server-related items would not be transferred to anyone other than the “authorised ultimate consignee or end users,” according to charge sheets.

Li Ming, a 51-year-old Chinese national, was charged with fraud by false representation.

The US Commerce Department is reportedly investigating allegations that DeepSeek used restricted US chips.
