US senators urge Biden to extend TikTok divestment deadline
Democrat Senator Ed Markey and Republican Senator Rand Paul have called on President Joe Biden to extend the January 19 deadline for ByteDance to divest its United States operations or face a potential ban.
The Supreme Court will hear arguments on January 10 regarding a challenge from TikTok and its parent company aimed at stopping the impending sale or ban.
In a joint letter, the senators asked the president to extend the deadline by 90 days.
