ByteDance seeks to block US sell-off order
ByteDance, the Chinese owner of TikTok, has asked the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia for a temporary block on a law.
This law requires ByteDance to sell its stake in TikTok by January 19, 2025, or face being banned across the country.
The emergency motion was filed on Monday, as the compliance deadline comes amid the upcoming presidential inauguration of Donald Trump.
