Sam Altman to visit South Korea for AI event

Sam Altman, CEO of the US-based AI firm OpenAI, will visit South Korea this week for the “Builder Lab” developer event.

This event, scheduled for Feb. 4 in Seoul, will feature participation from South Korean AI startups and companies.

This is Altman’s third visit to South Korea, following his trip in January 2024, where he toured Samsung Electronics’ facility in Pyeongtaek.

During this upcoming visit, he is expected to announce a collaboration with Kakao Corp, a South Korean tech company, with Kakao CEO Chung Shin-a holding a press conference the same day.

Additionally, Altman will meet with South Korean business leaders, including SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, to explore potential AI collaborations.
