Pentagon bans DeepSeek due to security concerns
The United States Defense Department has restricted access to DeepSeek, a Chinese AI chatbot, due to security concerns regarding its use on Pentagon computers.
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) initiated the block on Jan.27.
DeepSeek’s privacy policy indicates that user data is stored on Chinese servers and is subject to Chinese law. This prompted action from defense officials.
On Jan.29, some Pentagon screens displayed a “Website Blocked” message, while others still had access to the platform.
