Panasonic restructures to focus on AI, data centers

Panasonic plans to restructure its operations to reduce costs and focus on AI and data centers while streamlining underperforming segments.

The company may restructure its TV business, though no decisions are confirmed.

CEO Yuki Kusumi has mentioned exploring alternatives to a sale.

Panasonic aims to boost profits by 150 billion yen (US$966 million) by 2027 and another 150 billion yen (US$966 million) by 2029 through consolidation efforts.

It has partnered with Anthropic to expand AI revenue and is targeting high-efficiency components for data centers.

Once a consumer electronics giant, Panasonic now focuses on automotive batteries and industrial devices, benefiting from US tax credits.
