OnlyFans founder joins bid for TikTok’s US operations
Tim Stokely, the founder of OnlyFans, has partnered with social media startup Zoop and cryptocurrency organization The Hbar Foundation to bid for TikTok’s US operations.
This comes as TikTok faces an Apr. 5, deadline to sell or risk a ban.
Zoop, co-founded by Stokely and CEO RJ Phillips, announced the bid, with Phillips stating that the sale process is overseen by the White House, not ByteDance.
Other potential buyers include Amazon, which reportedly submitted a last-minute bid, and a consortium of Oracle and Blackstone.
Another proposal suggests ByteDance retaining TikTok’s algorithm and licensing it to a US buyer, but this would require approval from the Chinese government.
