Singapore’s Ministry of Defence, the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), and DSO National Laboratories (DSO) have partnered with France-based Mistral AI to develop generative AI (genAI) models to enhance decision-making and mission planning within the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

The initiative will focus on fine-tuning Mistral AI’s large language models (LLMs) and creating a mixture-of-experts (MoE) model tailored to Singapore’s operational needs. AI Singapore will also participate in this effort.

These models are expected to assist commanders by improving information retrieval and AI-driven decision support systems.

A key feature of this partnership is the ability to deploy AI models in secure environments, ensuring compatibility with defense requirements.
