China’s leading on-demand delivery platforms, Meituan and Ele.me, have introduced measures to address courier fatigue.

These measures include monitoring and limiting extended working hours by alerting riders after excessive periods of work.

Meituan is testing a “fatigue management” system in various cities.

The system detects riders working for longer than 12 hours, sending reminders to take breaks.

If these reminders are ignored, the app will eventually log the rider out.
