Honor to invest $10b in AI development over five years
Honor Device, a prominent Chinese smartphone manufacturer, plans to invest US$10 billion over five years to strengthen its AI capabilities, announced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The Shenzhen-based company, spun off from Huawei, aims to build an AI-driven device ecosystem with funding from investors, including local Chinese government entities, BOE Technology, and major telecom carriers.
James Li, Honor’s new CEO, discussed the company’s strategy during the event, alongside representatives from Qualcomm Inc. and Google.
Honor plans to collaborate with global supply chain and carrier partners, including Orange and Telefónica.
The company is expanding collaborations with US firms, integrating Google’s Gemini AI into smartphones and launching the MagicBook Pro 14, an AI-powered PC.
