Geely opts for partnerships over plants to expand smart EVs
Geely Automobile Holdings, the second-largest carmaker in China, plans to expand its footprint in the global smart electric vehicle (EV) market.
The company intends to partner with local firms rather than establishing manufacturing plants abroad.
This sets itself apart from other Chinese EV manufacturers like BYD and Hozon Auto, which have built facilities in Hungary and Thailand.
Geely’s CEO Gui Shengyue said that the company aims to boost sales in markets such as Asia and the European Union.
This strategy comes as a response to economic challenges, particularly the tariffs imposed by the EU on Chinese-made EVs.
