DeepSeek surpasses Doubao as China’s fastest-growing AI app
DeepSeek’s chatbot app has surpassed ByteDance’s Doubao to become the most popular AI application in China, according to data from Aicpb.com.
The app recorded 22.2 million daily active users (DAUs) in January, compared to Doubao’s 17 million in the same period.
DeepSeek’s chatbot was released for Android on Jan. 8 and iOS on Jan. 10.
It became the fastest-growing AI app globally in terms of DAU growth, reaching over 21 million users in just three weeks.
In contrast, OpenAI’s ChatGPT had 1.46 million DAUs 20 days after its launch in late 2022.
