Chinese EV brands lead global sales
Global sales of EVs and hybrids reached 1.2 million units in February 2025, a 50% increase compared to February 2024, according to data from Rho Motion.
China played a significant role in this growth, accounting for approximately three-quarters of worldwide sales during the month.
China’s EV sales increased by 76%, with battery-powered vehicles rising by 46%, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Brands such as BYD, Xiaomi, Xpeng, and Zeekr launched new models that contributed to the shift from hybrids to fully electric cars.
In the first two months of 2025, China’s EV sales grew by 35% to 1.4 million units, making up about 60% of global sales for that period. Plug-in hybrid vehicles experienced slower growth at 22% compared to the previous year.
