BYD Korea’s Atto 3 delayed over subsidy compliance issues
Delivery of BYD Korea’s Atto 3 electric SUV has been delayed after the vehicle did not meet updated subsidy requirements set by South Korea’s Ministry of Environment.
As a result, over 1,000 preordered units are currently stored at a port in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, awaiting approval.
The ministry’s revised rules require electric vehicles (EVs) to include a battery state of charge (SoC) function.
This function enables drivers to monitor the battery’s energy level.
BYD Korea has stated it will update the Atto 3’s software to comply with this requirement within a year; however, the approval of this adjustment remains pending.
