Blackstone to invest $6b data centers in India
American investment firm Blackstone has announced plans to invest US$6 billion to develop data centers and infrastructure assets in Maharashtra, India.
The investment includes a US$3 billion agreement with Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in partnership with Panchshil Realty to establish data centers across the state.
Additionally, Blackstone signed a separate US$3 billion deal with the City & Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) to develop infrastructure in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
These agreements were formalized during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Currently, Blackstone is developing two data centers in Navi Mumbai, with investments over US$300 million each.
With these new deals, Blackstone’s total planned investments in Maharashtra have reached US$11 billion.
Maharashtra is attracting significant interest in data and cloud infrastructure, with Amazon Web Services (AWS) planning to invest US$8.3 billion.
