Asian chip stocks drop as Nvidia slumps after earnings miss

Asian stocks linked to the semiconductor industry declined after Nvidia’s recent earnings report failed to meet market expectations.

This resulted in a drop in the company’s shares on US exchanges.

In Japan, suppliers to Nvidia, such as Tokyo Electron Ltd., Advantest Corp., Disco Corp., and Lasertec Corp., saw their shares fall by over 5%.

South Korea’s SK Hynix Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. also reported losses exceeding 2%.

Trading in Taiwan was closed due to a holiday.

Nvidia’s stock decreased by 8.5% in New York. The company indicated that its gross profit margins may be narrower than anticipated.
