Apple to meet Indonesia on new investment proposal
Representatives from Apple will meet with Indonesia’s Industry Ministry on Tuesday to discuss investment commitments needed to sell the iPhone 16 in the country.
Indonesia previously banned sales of the device due to Apple not meeting regulations requiring 40% of smartphone components be sourced domestically.
Apple had committed US$10 million for the 2021-2023 period but now needs a new investment plan for 2024-2026.
Febri Hendri, a spokesperson for the ministry, confirmed that discussions will center on an investment proposal submitted by Apple.
Apple did not respond to requests for comment.
