Apple loses appeal in Germany, faces stricter market rules
Apple has lost an appeal against a regulatory decision in Germany, resulting in stricter market controls for the tech company.
The Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe issued the ruling on Mar. 18.
The court upheld the German cartel office’s 2023 classification of Apple as a company with significant cross-market influence, placing it alongside Google parent Alphabet and Meta.
Apple’s request for the court to seek guidance from the European Court of Justice was denied, reinforcing Germany’s authority in regulating tech giants.
