Indonesian Industry Ministry has granted local content certificates for 20 Apple products, including the iPhone 16.

However, Apple still needs permits from the communications and digital ministry and the trade ministry before selling them domestically. The certification process followed negotiations over Apple’s compliance with local regulations.

Febri Hendri Antoni Arief, an industry ministry spokesperson, confirmed Apple received certificates for 11 smartphone models and nine tablet models after meeting the required standards.

The industry minister noted that discussions with Apple were challenging.

Despite this, Apple is not among the top five smartphone brands in Indonesia, according to Canalyst data from last year’s third quarter.

As of now, Apple and the communications and trade ministries have not responded to requests for comment.
