Ankur Capital leads $2.9m seed funding in Indian nanotech firm
Bengaluru-based nanotechnology firm Vimano has raised INR 25 crore (US$ 2.9 million) in a seed funding round led by Ankur Capital. This investment is the first from Ankur Capital’s third fund.
Founded in 2019 by materials scientists Murari Ramkumar and Dr. Nagesh Kini, Vimano specializes in membrane technologies for energy applications.
The startup has developed a tunable ion-conductive membrane platform designed to enhance efficiency and reduce costs in systems like redox flow batteries, electrolyzers for green hydrogen production, and PEM fuel cells.
The new funding will support pilot projects with energy ecosystem partners. It will also increase the company’s workforce and establish scalable manufacturing processes for its membrane technology.
