Alibaba to launch open-source video AI model
Alibaba plans to release an open-source version of its video and image-generating AI model, Wan 2.1.
A company spokesperson said that further details will be shared through a recorded video at 11 p.m. local time on Feb.25.
This announcement occurs amid rising competition in China’s AI sector, where companies such as DeepSeek have recently introduced open-source models.
Alibaba first introduced its video and image AI model, previously named Wanx, in January before rebranding it to Wan.
The model has been noted for its ability to produce realistic visuals.
