Airbnb to launch AI customer support system
Airbnb plans to implement AI in its customer support operations during its Q4 2024 earnings call on Feb. 13 .
The AI system, set to roll out this summer, will act as a customer service agent with evolving capabilities.
CEO Brian Chesky highlighted AI’s ability to handle multiple languages and large amounts of information, making it suitable for this role.
While AI could eventually impact the travel industry, it is still in early development and not yet ready for trip planning or advanced integrations.
Future AI developments may include enhanced search functions and concierge-like features.
Besides customer service, Airbnb has used AI for modest improvements in engineering but without major productivity gains.
CFO Ellie Mertz noted AI could bring cost efficiencies, particularly in customer service and payment processing.
