Cherry blossom season is about to start, and the folks at Mobile Monday Tokyo aren’t wasting any time taking to the great outdoors. Today I spoke with the group’s organizer Lars Cosh-Ishii, who tells me that the upcoming hanami event will be on the evening of Thursday, April 5th [1] at Kinuta Park, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.
The event will also welcome special guests from Rovio, I’m told, who were in the hanami spirit a few weeks in advance with their cherry blossom festival update for Angry Birds Seasons. I’m not sure exactly what’s in store, but supposedly there will be “fun gaming action with groovy prizes on-hand.” I can’t say for certain, but I suspect it might be something similar to last week’s Rovio event where attendees got to play Angry Birds Space for a while, with the highest scorer getting a prize.
In any case, if you’re in Tokyo and you’d like to meet up with some fellow mobile/gaming enthusiasts, do check out the full details over on the Mobile Monday Tokyo website.
Meanwhile, if you’d like to find out other places to check out cherry blossoms in Japan, click on over to Google’s very slick Cherry Blossom Guide that features some amazing Street View pictures and information for the main viewing spots around the country.

This is weather pending of course. The backup plan is April 6th, so they’ll try and send an update on April 4th. ↩
