mig33 and GREE Partner for Social Gaming

gree mig33Two Asia-based social services teamed up today as mobile social network mig33 out of Singapore and uber-popular GREE of Japan announced an agreement of cooperation.

mig33 is social network targeting emerging markets like South East Asia or Africa where smartphone use is not yet widely adopted. Its user base is significant at 47-million-strong. The service will be adopting Gree’s platform for smartphones, meaning that games on that network can be ported over for mig33’s users.

GREE’s social network boasts 24 million users and has already tested the regional waters when it branched out in partnership with Chinese internet services portal Tencent.

Stephen Goh, mig33’s founder said that this deal “changes the face of social gaming throughout Asia.” He explained “Our unique merchant model has been successful at monetizing users in markets previously difficult to reach and the opening of GREE Platform for smartphone will provide opportunity to the social games developers to monetize that large and potential audience.”
