While the deal size was undisclosed, a Gupshup spokesperson told Tech in Asia that it was an all-cash deal. The Tiger Global-backed firm added that the acquisition strengthens its customer experience solutions for customers in the banking, financial services, and insurance industries.
Active.ai serves clients across 43 countries with a conversational banking-as-a-service platform. It has so far enabled more than 300 million user interactions via voice, video, and messaging, and it has managed over 30 million service requests.
The deal marks Gupshup’s third acquisition in the past eight months. In September 2021, the company acquired US-based Dotgo, a communication services platform. It also bought Knowlarity Communications, a cloud communications firm, for an undisclosed amount in February.
