Microsoft eyes $10b injection into ChatGPT maker
Microsoft is looking to pour US$10 billion into OpenAI, the creator of the ChatGPT app, sources told Semafor.
The round – which will include other investors – will peg OpenAI’s valuation at around US$29 billion. It’s unclear whether the deal had materialized as originally targeted for the end of 2022.
According to Semafor, Microsoft could potentially own 49% of OpenAI if this deal pushed through.
It was recently reported that Microsoft has been tinkering with its office suite, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, to bring in ChatGPT’s functionalities for users needing help with tasks such as writing documents and emails.
