Chinese gaming giant NetEase has decided to shut down its battle royale title, Rules of Survival, on June 27 after nearly five years of operations. The firm did not specify a reason for the closure.

Rules of Survival said that by the set date, players may no longer access game servers and all account data and character information, which include diamonds, items, and materials.
However, diamonds that could be purchased within the game will be refunded to players from June 28 to September 28 this year.
“We sincerely apologize for this and thank you once again for your tremendous support toward Rules of Survival,” the team said in a statement.
The title is a battle royale-style game similar to Fortnite, where up to 300 people play in an arena until there is only one player left standing. Other games from NetEase include Knives Out, Creative Destruction, Warbound Storm, and LifeAfter.

Meanwhile, NetEase shares jumped 4% after Chinese regulators approved 45 game titles for monetization earlier this month amid the country’s sweeping crackdown on the gaming industry.
