Hello reader,
While hardly buzzing, the IPO scene in the Philippines has been eagerly anticipating the debut of fintech titan GCash. When that happens, the listing – which could see the firm raising up to US$1.5 billion – could be the largest in the country.
The Philippines only counts one tech listing so far: Xurpas’ 2014 IPO. I’m hoping GCash succeeds and opens up the door for other tech players to go public.
Meanwhile, Australia’s securities regulator is moving to spur activity by speeding up the process of going public.
For example, companies with a projected market capitalization of A$100 million (US$64.9 million) may be fast-tracked to their listing.
While a welcome step, analysts don’t see this as a silver bullet to the country’s lagging IPO landscape.
